Through the latter months of last year, we saw a number of variable annuity product changes in the pipeline whose details were not fully fleshed out. Because of this we got the feeling that most insurers were making tentative adjustments, so as to not unduly hurt their positions in the industry rankings. In more recent SEC filings certain pending changes have been coming into focus, and we encountered a few surprises.
